What to Look for in Car Insurance Reviews

You have seen all of the ads on television. There are cute little animals, authoritative voices, and even animated people all advertising car insurance. They all claim to have the best prices and that within just a few minutes, you could save hundreds of dollars on your insurance. This may be true, but it is always best to look at car insurance reviews before you go looking at quotes.

One of the major problems with getting car insurance quotes is that every time you do it, the insurance companies run your credit. And, you know that the more hits there are on your credit report, the lower the number will be. By looking at car insurance reviews before you go shopping, you will be better able to shop your auto insurance around and not get official quotes that require a credit check.

The truth is that there is not one company that is always cheaper for everyone. Some companies only provide great prices for people with high credit ratings and perfect driving records, while other companies don’t mind giving competitive prices to people with slightly less stellar pedigrees. But, by searching car insurance reviews ahead of time, you will know what companies will give someone like you the rate that you need.

It seems crazy that your car insurance premium should be decided in part by your credit rating or credit score, but it is true. The lower your credit score, the higher your car insurance will be. So, before you go shopping, take a good look at your credit report, try and dispute any incorrect information and get rid of any bad debt. This will help you get more choices when you go looking for car insurance and you will be able to get a much better rate as well.

How to Get an Auto Insurance Estimate

No one likes to shop for car insurance, no matter how much fun it looks like on the television commercials. Getting an auto insurance estimate is a whole lot of hassle that requires getting old pieces of paper together, writing down long complicated numbers, and trying to figure out what all the different types of coverage are. But, it doesn’t really have to be that way if you do it online.

There are websites now that offer you the ability to get an auto insurance estimate from multiple companies, without ever having your credit record checked. This is a huge advantage because each time your credit record is pulled, your score may go down. So, by doing all of your car insurance shopping at one place at the same time, you will keep your credit score as high as it can be.

This is how an auto insurance estimate differs from a true quote. A quote is based on real-life information that you give the company, including your Social Security number (which in turn triggers the pulling of your credit record). An estimate is much less intrusive and is a rough number that should give you a good idea of which companies are cheapest for the kind of car that you are driving.

When you get ready to start looking at an auto insurance estimate, it is always best to have your current policy handy. That piece of paper has all the information you will need on it, including the vehicle identification number (VIN) of your car, the levels of coverage you currently have, your deductible, and your current payment. By having this ready, along with your driver’s license, your car insurance shopping will go easily and quickly, and you will have a good idea of what you are going to have to pay in no time at all.

Finding Auto Insurance Carriers

With all of the advertising on television, you might think that no one would have a problem finding auto insurance carriers, but for some people, getting any kind of coverage can be very difficult. And, it isn’t just people who have bad driving records that can’t get coverage. There are many reasons why people are often struggling to get a company to cover them, at any cost.

Most auto insurance carriers really only want to deal with the perfect person. They want someone who has never had an accident, yet has been driving for twenty years. They want someone with a blemish-free credit record and who can pay the entire six months’ premium on time. They also want someone who lives in a good part of town and drives a car that is rarely stolen.

But, in reality, most of us have problems. We have a ticket or an accident on our record, our credit rating is not as high as it should be, and maybe we aren’t driving the cheapest car to insure. For these reasons, it is a good idea to shop auto insurance carriers before you sign on for your next policy.

When you are looking online for your next auto insurance company, keep in mind that it is always a good idea to do all of your shopping within a short period of time – usually on one day. By doing this, you eliminate the impact that multiple requests for your credit rating will have you on your score. In fact, the best way to get insurance is to shop for auto insurance carriers on a website that offers multiple quotes from different companies.

By filling in your information just one time, you will have several quotes from which to choose and can decide on the one that is best for your lifestyle and your budget.

Do I Need Auto Gap Insurance?

If you are like most people, you have traditional auto insurance. You have a policy that covers collision, uninsured or underinsured motorists, and theft. But, you also have a deductible and that is where auto gap insurance comes into play. This type of policy is supplemental to your regular policy and helps you reclaim the amount you would otherwise have to spend on your deductible.

Imagine you got into an accident and had $2,500 worth of damage to your car. If you had a $500 deductible on your policy, your insurance company would pick up $2,000 of that cost and you would be left to come up with the extra $500. If you had auto gap insurance, however, that amount would be covered, too.

This isn’t just useful in accidents – when your car is stolen, or even when you damage to someone else’s property, it can come in handy. Auto gap insurance protects you against paying a large deductible and is something that every car owner should have when they are behind the wheel.

A lot of traditional insurance companies do not offer auto gap insurance, because it is that very deductible that they use to pay for the cost of having you as a customer. The higher the deductible, the less likely you will be to ever use the insurance, and they know this fact. So, they offer cheap insurance policies for people who are willing to settle for a high deductible, knowing full well that you will never use the policy.

So, if you want to beat them at their own game, get a gap policy to plug the hole. You will still be able to have an inexpensive auto insurance policy, but by protecting yourself from the high deductible, you will be a lot safer after an accident or theft.

Finding Cheap Auto Owner Insurance

How long have you had the same car insurance policy? If you have been with your auto owner insurance company for more than a year, then it is definitely time to start shopping around. Rates change almost daily, and by keeping on top of your policy, you will have a better chance of getting more coverage for a cheaper price.

Auto owner insurance is something that is required by all states. It provides all of us drivers with coverage from others doing damage to ourselves or our vehicles. Each state has its own “state minimum” coverage, which is the absolute least amount of coverage that you can have on your vehicle. You can get that type of coverage if that is all you can afford, but in most cases, if you do some shopping online, you can get much better coverage for the same price.

What you pay for auto owner insurance really depends on many factors. The first and most important factor is your driving record. If you have “points” or accidents on your driving record, then you will pay more. If you have a bad credit rating, you will pay more. If you drive a car that is often stolen or that has a bad safety record, then you will pay more.

If, however, you have a high credit score, a clean driving record, and drive a sensible car that is not on the “most stolen” list, then you should be able to get a good price. It also helps if you have airbags and restraints in your car, don’t smoke, have good health, and have never been arrested for a DUI or DWI.

Finding auto owner insurance is easy when you do it online. Just go to a website that offers quotes from multiple companies and you will easily get the best price.
