Shopping by Car Insurance Groups

When you get car insurance, your policy premium is based on many different factors, some of which you can change and others that you cannot. You can’t change your gender or your age, and you can’t easily change where you live or the type of drivers who are around you, but you can change the type of car that you are driving. By shopping for your next car by car insurance groups, you could end up saving an awful lot of money the next time you have to pay your car insurance premium.

Car insurance groups are one of the criteria on which your premium is based. All cars that are currently being driven in our country are evaluated on many different aspects – safety, likelihood of being stolen, expense to repair – and are grouped together to make setting the insurance premiums much easier. The key is to find a car that is in one or more car insurance groups that is inexpensive to insure.

You may be surprised at some of the cars that are expensive to insure. They aren’t the fast, racy sports cars that you might think. Some of the most expensive cars to insure are the everyday, Japanese-made sedans or coupes. These cars are expensive to insure because they are expensive to fix and because they are often stolen. You need to stay away from these cars because of the car insurance groups in which they fall.

There are some very attractive, fast, and even expensive cars that fall into groups that are inexpensive to insure, and if this is the kind of car that you are looking for, then choose them. You may also find cars that are functional, safe, sturdy, and inexpensive to repair – and these will be some of the cheapest to insure and will provide you with years of service.

Can You Get Affordable DUI Auto Insurance?

If you have had a DUI or DWI (driving under the influence, or driving while intoxicated), you have probably paid out quite a lot of money already. The price of a DUI is underestimated by most resources and it isn’t until it happens to you that you realize how much that extra drink cost you. Even if you didn’t get in an accident, and were just stopped while you were driving home, the financial cost could run well into the thousands of dollars and getting DUI auto insurance is your next step.

You hear the horror stories about how much it costs in terms of legal fees and court costs, but if you haven’t had a DUI, then you have no idea how much your insurance will cost. Luckily, there are companies that specialize in DUI auto insurance – just for people like you who have made a mistake yet still need to be insured once you get your license back.

DUI auto insurance does, of course, come at a price. The insurance companies now see you as a rogue driver, someone who is willing to take chances with your life and the lives of others, and someone who does not respect the laws and morals of our country. So, be prepared to pay the price. But, you can get DUI auto insurance at fairly affordable prices if you shop around.

When you are looking for a policy after your DUI, it is best to make sure that your credit record is as clean as it can be. This is one of the main reasons why some people pay more than others. If you can clean off a couple of old debts, your policy will be much cheaper. In addition, take as many driving classes as you can to show the company that you are indeed a safe driver.

How to Get Temporary Car Insurance

There are any number of reasons why people let their car insurance policy lapse, but usually it has to do with some kind of financial problems. When money is tight, it seems like the last thing you want to do is send a check off for your car insurance. But, when you don’t pay it on time, or let the policy lapse and you remain without coverage, you could get yourself in a lot of trouble. That is why you might need temporary car insurance.

Basically, the law doesn’t want anyone driving without insurance, because the burden would always be on the other party. So, we are all required to be covered in order that we can pay for any damage we do at the very least. Temporary car insurance is the legal minimum coverage that your state requires for you to be considered driving legally.

You may think that you can get away with driving without insurance for a week or even a month, but if you do, you will probably get caught. The insurance companies notify your state’s department of motor vehicles the very same day your policy has lapsed, and if and when your tags are run by any officer on the street, you will be pulled over and your car could become confiscated.

Imagine the cost of having to get your vehicle out of the impound lot, pay the fees, pay your insurance, and even pay for a lawyer. It could be astronomical. So, it is good to know that temporary car insurance is available to keep you legal until you have enough money together to pay for your next policy. This type of coverage is basically a way of keeping the law happy and you safe until you can afford a higher level of coverage.

Buying Car and Home Insurance

In most instances, people have car insurance long before they ever think about buying home insurance. In addition, most people only buy home insurance only because they are forced to do so by their mortgage company. The bank or loan company that is holding the loan on the house needs to know that their equity is secure, so they require home insurance. Car and home insurance are almost always best bought from the same company, but it can take a little shopping around to get the best deal.

Most companies will specialize in just one or the other – car or home insurance – though most companies will offer both of these, and more. In fact, you can go to most of the larger insurance companies and they will also be able to offer you life insurance, medical insurance, and certain death or annuities that can help to secure your future, but you need to know where to go.

Car and home insurance bought from the same company are convenient for two reasons. First of all, you are usually given a substantial discount, often as much as twenty percent, on your car insurance if you are a current homeowners insurance customer of a company. Also, by having both insurance policies with the same company, it is easier on you if you have a claim.

For instance, most people don’t think of theft as something that is covered by their auto or home insurance, but it is. If you go out holiday shopping and have all of your packages in the car, which policy covers the theft of them? If you have both your car and home insurance with one company, it doesn’t really matter to you as long as you get paid. By keeping both of these insurance policies with one company, it will be much easier on you if you have a claim.

Buying Home and Car Insurance Online

If you are a homeowner, then you already have some form of homeowner’s insurance. Most people have it rolled into their mortgage and don’t even know it, although you can buy it much cheaper if you have it removed from your mortgage and buy it on your own. When you buy home and car insurance together, you can save a lot on both of them.

Insurance companies like their customers to have multiple policies and that is why they give home and car insurance discounts if you have both. You may think that this is not such a good idea in this economy, because if the insurance company goes under, then you are not covered in either realm, but this is not the case. It is almost always a good idea to have your home and car insurance held by the same company for both ease of use and affordability.

You can now buy home and car insurance online and do it easily and affordably. By getting quotes from multiple companies on the same website, you can actually do what used to take a traditional insurance agent days to do. By going to a website and entering all of your information, including the car you are driving, the statistics on your home, and all of your personal information, you will get quote in literally minutes.

When you have your home and car insurance with one company, it makes it much easier if you have a claim. You have just one company to talk to and they have all of your information. You will also receive a substantial discount, the more policies you have with one company. If you can include life and health policies, as well as some sort of medical policy, with the same company, then you will save even more money.
